Today, I’m thrilled to announce that Anthony Watson has joined the global Bitreserve team as President and Chief Operating Officer.

Anthony is a financial and commercial luminary with experience leading global companies and financial institutions through large scale transitions. His entrepreneurial and technology-centric impact on the business and finance communities spans the world, touching North America, South America, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, India, and Asia. You might also recognize him from Fortune’s 40 Under 40 list.

Anthony joins Bitreserve from Nike, Inc. where he was the Global Chief Information Officer, sat on the Executive Committee, and successfully developed a comprehensive and worldwide five year technology transformation and cybersecurity strategy for the company. Anthony previously served as Managing Director and Chief Information Officer of Europe Retail & Business Banking and Global Operations at Barclays Bank PLC, where he exercised years of global banking and financial operations expertise developed at Wells Fargo & Co and First-e Bancorp, Europe’s first internet bank..

At Bitreserve, Anthony will lead global operations as we enhance our mission to change the world by changing how people access, hold and move money. Drawing on significant leadership experience, relationships, and know-how, Anthony will drive Bitreserve’s efforts to inform industry leaders and work with members of the global financial services community to deliver transparency, portability, and independence to current and future customers around the world. His knowledge and deep insight into financial systems is invaluable as we continue to grow and make strides towards a future that enables anyone to access and participate in the digital economy.

“I am thrilled to join Bitreserve at such a pivotal moment in the evolution of cloud money and financial technology,” says Watson. “Money is a common language around the world and Bitreserve democratizes how people access, hold, and move value. We have the unique opportunity to craft a lasting legacy of delivering transparency, massive innovation, and positive social impact to financial services and in peoples’ everyday lives.”

Last year, Anthony was listed as the 4th most influential gay business leader in the world by the Financial Times. An active leader in the LGBT business community, Anthony sits on the National Board of Directors and Chair of the Audit Committee of GLAAD, is a Patron of United Kingdom-based Diversity Role Models, and continues to top the charts of prolific champions of commerce and diversity – two values fundamental to our work here at Bitreserve.

Please join me in welcoming Anthony to the team!
